SUMMARY:Austere Emergency Care
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n	\n \n \n \n\n \n	\n \n\n\n \n	\n Austere Emergency Care	\n\n\n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\nPresented by Anyone Not Ready\nSponsored by Northeast Colorado RETAC \n\n\n\n📅 Date: December 15–18\, 2025\n🕗 Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM\n📍 Location: Yuma City Ambulance\, Yuma\, Colorado\n\n\n\n\nOverview\nAustere Emergency Care (AEC) is an advanced\, four-day training combining classroom\, hands-on labs\, and a full-day immersive scenario designed to prepare medical providers to manage critically ill or injured patients in resource-limited or remote settings. The curriculum integrates principles from Prolonged Field Care (PFC)\, Prolonged Casualty Care (PCC)\, and Wilderness Medical Society (WMS) guidelines\, applying best practices for delivering high-level care when immediate evacuation or hospital access is not feasible. \nParticipants will engage in scenario-based learning\, problem-solving with limited resources\, and group decision-making under austere conditions. A final full-day casualty exercise (with role players/simulated patients) integrates all lessons from the week. \nThis offering will include two tracks (Basic / Advanced) to accommodate learners of differing experience levels\, with many shared objectives and practicums. \n\nWho Should Attend\nThis course is ideal for: \n\nEMS professionals (EMTs\, paramedics)\nEmergency department providers (nurses\, physicians)\nPrehospital providers with responsibilities in rural\, remote\, or austere environments.\nSearch & rescue\, wilderness medicine\, disaster response\, and rescue teams.\nOthers with prior clinical experience seeking to expand their capability in prolonged care settings.\n\nPrerequisite: Familiarity with TECC / TCCC or equivalent baseline trauma care skills is strongly recommended. \nUpon successful completion\, participants receive a certificate and may be eligible for up to 40 continuing education credits (CE) (and FAWM credit for AEC-Advanced where applicable). \n\nCourse Logistics\n\nDates: December 15–18\, 2025 (4 full days)\nLocation: Yuma\, CO\nClass size: Maximum of 18 students\nWaiting list: Will be maintained for those unable to be accommodated.\nPre-course requirement: Online pre-work / lessons and brief quiz (to be completed before arrival).\nFinal evaluation: Online post-course test for certification.\n\n\nRegistration & Tuition Policy\nWe welcome registrations from any qualified provider\, but priority placement will be given to EMS and ED providers from within the 9-county Northeast Colorado region. \n\nRegional participants (from the 9-county Northeast region):\n– Deposit: $100 (refundable upon completion of the course)\n– Tuition: No additional cost beyond deposit\, upon fulfilling course attendance and requirements.\nExternal participants (outside the 9-county region):\n– Tuition: $1\,000 (nonrefundable) Black Friday Special Coupon discounts price to $250! Use code ‘AECBlackFriday’ only until 12/1!\n– Full tuition due upon registration.\n\nIf a class slot is unavailable\, external registrants will be placed on the waiting list and notified should a spot open. \nBecause of the limited class size\, early registration is strongly encouraged. \n\nExpectations & Preparation\n\nParticipants should arrive ready to engage in both didactic and hands-on sessions.\nBring your usual EMS / critical care gear (details provided in registration package).\nExpect physically and mentally intensive training\, working under realistic stress conditions.\nCold Weather Preparedness: December conditions in Yuma can be cold and unpredictable. Students must bring appropriate cold-weather clothing suitable for extended outdoor activity. Some sessions and the culminating scenario will take place outside for extended periods regardless of weather.\nCollaboration\, mutual learning\, and open exchange of experiences are core to this format.\n\n\nRegional Accessibility\nHosting the Academy in Yuma ensures easy access for participants from across Northeast Colorado’s nine-county region. \nNCRETAC is proud to sponsor this program\, bringing world-class training to our local workforce and building stronger\, more resilient emergency services across the plains and foothills. \n\nDetails\n\n\n\nRegional Participants (9-County Area):\nRegistration requires a $100 deposit\, which will be refunded upon successful completion of the class. Tuition for regional participants is fully covered by NCRETAC. Use coupon code NCRETAC90 when registering.\n\n\nExternal Participants:\nTuition is $1\,000 per person (non-refundable). \nBlack Friday Special Coupon discounts price to $250!
