Mass Casualty Incident (MCI):

Strengthening Regional Response and Preparedness

The NCRETAC MCI Committee is committed to enhancing the region’s preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities for mass casualty incidents. Our goal is to ensure a coordinated, efficient, and unified approach to managing these critical events, ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities during emergencies.

What We Do
Our committee focuses on several key areas to improve MCI readiness and response:

  • MCI Response Plan: We develop and maintain a regional response plan that aligns with state and national standards, ensuring that we are always prepared for any mass casualty event.
  • Interagency Coordination: We foster collaboration among EMS, hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement, and emergency management to ensure a seamless response during incidents.
  • Resource Gap Identification: We identify and address gaps in resources, equipment, and personnel to ensure we have everything needed during a mass casualty situation.
  • Training and Drills: We regularly conduct training exercises, tabletop drills, and simulations to test and refine our response protocols.
  • Best Practices Implementation: We work to incorporate industry best practices into our response strategies to continuously improve outcomes during real events.

Why It Matters
Mass casualty incidents require quick, effective coordination across multiple agencies. By working together and preparing in advance, we can ensure that our region is ready to handle any disaster, minimizing the impact on individuals and communities.
