The mission of the NCRETAC is to enhance coordination and collaboration among hospital and prehospital providers, support all emergency medical and trauma services organizations within our region, and promote equitable patient care through access to safety, education, and resources.
Our region is expansive
and diverse.
Covering 17,534 square miles along Colorado’s northern border, our region connects with Nebraska and Wyoming to the north, and Nebraska and Kansas to the east. With Longs Peak, at 14,259′ (4,346m), in our southwest corner, is a four hour drive from the lowest point in Colorado, at our eastern most border at 3,317′ (1,011m).
With an estimated population of 803,157 (2023) in our nine counties, the Northeast Colorado Regional EMS and Trauma Advisory Council (RETAC) is a crucial hub for emergency medical and trauma services.
Patient Centered
At the core of our mission is patient care. By fostering collaboration and innovation among emergency medical and trauma system providers, we adapt to evolving challenges efficiently and effectively. We act as a link between care providers and the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. We advocate for policies and practices that focus on patient well-being.
Overcoming Challenges
We face many challenges. They include regulatory changes, reimbursement complexities, recruitment, and retention issues. Northeast Colorado RETAC stands ready to support agencies in navigating these hurdles. Together, we are committed to continually improving the standards of patient care in our community.
