NCRETAC COMMITTEES

Northeast Physicians’ Advisory Board

NEPAB provides independent physician-level clinical oversight and advisory services to the NCRETAC Board of Directors, ensuring clinical governance decisions, protocol development, and high-risk procedure oversight are informed by qualified physician expertise.

About NEPAB

The Northeast Physicians’ Advisory Board is established to provide independent medical oversight advisory services to the NCRETAC Board of Directors and standing committees. NEPAB ensures that clinical governance decisions, protocol development, and high-risk procedure oversight reflect current evidence-based standards and applicable regulatory requirements. NEPAB operates as an advisory body. All recommendations require Board consideration and formal action to take effect.

NEPAB works in close coordination with the Clinical & Professional Standards Committee and the Emergency Planning & Preparedness Committee on matters of clinical governance and protocol oversight.

Board Structure

NEPAB convenes at a minimum quarterly, with additional meetings called when clinical governance questions require timely advisory input. A majority of active members constitutes a quorum. Decisions are made by consensus; in the event of a tie, the Chair casts the deciding vote.

Chair

A current NCRETAC Board member, appointed by the President. Leads the board, sets the agenda, and serves as liaison to the full Board of Directors.

Co-Chair

A physician serving as NCRETAC’s medical director, appointed by the Board. Brings clinical expertise and presides in the Chair’s absence. The Co-Chair’s appointment ends if their professional relationship with NCRETAC ends.

Advisory Members

Licensed physicians from emergency medicine, surgery, or related specialties with responsibility for or interest in EMS and trauma care within the NCRETAC region. Members serve two-year terms.

Non-Voting Participants

All clinicians working in the region are welcome to participate and share their perspectives. Input from non-voting participants reflects individual professional experience and does not represent the position of any agency, hospital, or organization.

NEPAB’s charter was approved by the Board of Directors on March 17, 2026. The charter is available in the Committee Charters and Procedures Manual.
