FREE COMMUNITY TRAINING

Stop The Bleed®

Severe bleeding can kill in less than 5 minutes. This free training teaches you how to stop life-threatening bleeding until an ambulance arrives. No medical experience needed. Anyone can learn this.

Why This Training Matters

Uncontrolled bleeding is the most common cause of preventable death from injury. About 40% of trauma deaths worldwide are due to bleeding or its effects. A person can bleed to death in 5 minutes or less, often before an ambulance can arrive.

In rural northeast Colorado, help can be 20 minutes or more away. The person next to you may be the only one who can act in time.

Stop The Bleed® is a national program developed by the American College of Surgeons and the U.S. Department of Defense. NCRETAC’s Injury Prevention Committee delivers this training for free across all nine counties in the region.

What You Will Learn

How to recognize life-threatening bleeding. How to use your hands, a bandage, or a tourniquet to stop it. How to use a bleeding control kit. How to stay calm and act quickly under stress.

Training includes hands-on practice with real equipment. Sessions are tailored to your group’s setting and time available.

Who Should Be Trained

Anyone. This training is designed for people with no medical background.

Schools and school staff. Businesses and workplaces. Churches and community groups. Sports teams. Government offices. Any place where people gather.

Colorado Schools

Under HB23-1213, Colorado supports Stop The Bleed training and bleeding control kits in K-12 schools.

NCRETAC training extends these skills to all organizations, because emergencies happen everywhere, not just in schools.
