NCRETAC serves nine counties in northeast Colorado. This section is for everyone who lives, works, or goes to school here. You will find free safety programs, information on how to help in an emergency, and resources to keep your family safe.

What We Offer

All of the programs and resources on this page are free. You do not need to be a medical professional to use them. They are designed for families, schools, workplaces, and anyone in our community who wants to be prepared.

Stop The Bleed

Learn how to stop serious bleeding

Severe bleeding can kill in less than 5 minutes. This free training teaches you how to use your hands, a bandage, or a tourniquet to stop life-threatening bleeding until an ambulance arrives. Anyone can learn this. No medical training needed.

Become a HerO+

Donate blood and help save lives

Ambulances in our region now carry whole blood for patients who are seriously hurt. This blood comes from donors in our community. If you have O+ blood type, your donation can go directly into an ambulance and save someone’s life before they reach a hospital.

In an Emergency

If someone is seriously hurt, call 911 right away. Help is on the way, but there are things you can do while you wait.

1

Call 911

Tell them where you are and what happened. Stay on the phone and follow their instructions.

2

Stop Bleeding

Press hard on any wound that is bleeding. If you have a tourniquet, use it. Do not let go until help arrives.

3

Stay Calm

You do not need to be a doctor to help. Staying calm and taking action makes a difference.

4

Guide EMS

Turn on outside lights. Send someone to meet the ambulance at the road. Every minute counts in a rural area.

In rural northeast Colorado, the nearest ambulance may be 20 to 30 minutes away or more. Knowing what to do while you wait can save a life. Our free training programs can help you be ready.

Request a Program for Your School or Organization

We bring free safety training to schools, workplaces, churches, sports teams, and community groups across northeast Colorado. Programs can be scheduled at a time and place that works for you. Most sessions take less than two hours.

Stop The Bleed Training

Hands-on bleeding control training for groups of any size. Good for schools, offices, sports programs, and community events.

Car Seat Safety Checks

Free car seat checks for families. A trained technician will make sure your child’s seat is installed correctly.

Helmet Programs

Bicycle helmet fittings and distribution for children. We partner with local organizations to reach kids who need helmets most.
