About this election
This election fills Board officer positions for 2026 Election for NCRETAC Board Officers. Officers serve two-year terms commencing August 1 following the election, and may serve consecutive terms if re-elected (Policy and Procedure Manual, approved 16JUN2026, Procedure: Election and Terms of Officers, Sections 3 and 4; Bylaws, Amended 16JUN2026, Article VI, Section 6.02). The full officer slate is shown on the ballot. Positions not up for election this cycle appear dimmed with the current officer listed, and receive no votes.
Nomination requirements
Only current members of the Board of Directors in good standing are eligible for nomination and election as officers (P&P Manual, 16JUN2026, Election of Officers, Section 1; Bylaws, 16JUN2026, Article VI, Section 6.02). Nominations of persons not currently seated on the Board will not advance to the ballot.
Nominations must be submitted in writing and include the nominee's name, the position nominated for, and a brief statement of qualifications (P&P Manual, 16JUN2026, Election of Officers, Section 2).
The four officers must represent four different member counties (Bylaws, 16JUN2026, Article V, Section 5.02). Because two officers continue in their terms this cycle, nominees may not be from a continuing officer's county, with one exception: a continuing officer may themselves be nominated for an open position. If a continuing officer is elected to a new position, their vacated office is filled by special election at the next regular Board meeting for the remainder of the term (P&P Manual, 16JUN2026, Election of Officers, Section 5; Bylaws, 16JUN2026, Article VI, Section 6.03).
Nominees will be asked to confirm their willingness to serve during the July Board meeting, immediately before ballots open (P&P Manual, 16JUN2026, Election of Officers, Section 2).
How voting works
Officers are elected by secret ballot of the Board of Directors at the July regular meeting, with a quorum established and a majority vote of Directors present required to elect (P&P Manual, 16JUN2026, Election of Officers, Section 3). Voting on this platform is restricted to seated Directors. The ranked ballot serves as the Board's secret ballot; if no candidate holds a majority of first choices, lower-ranked preferences function as the second round of voting.
